Jaap the Sheep by Leendert Jan Vis is a famous picture book in Holland with beautiful large pictures in yellow/green and blue colors.
Jaap the Sheep roams the medow peacefully with his herd. In the evening he sits near the campfire and listens to scary stories about wolves. One day he finds an old bike. He starts to practice and finds it hard to do. The other sheep cast him out and say 'Sheep don't ride bikes'. In the dark he sets out on his own and the wolf finds him and chases him. Jaap trips over a rock and thinks he is lost, but ... as it turns out ... the wolf was only curious and wants to learn to ride the bike also. That is the story how Jaap became good friends with the wolf.
